We made the most of our trip back to South Africa. Not only did we get to spend time with family, We got to spend 3 nights at Ngama Tented Safari Lodge. A stunning game farm neighboring Thorny Bush and The Kruger National Park, we were in wildlife country. It was great spending 3 months in South-East Asia but we longed for the bush sounds and game drives! Ngama delivered.
We were treated to the full bush experience. A romantic picnic at the waterhole, walking distance from our camp, was on the agenda. We enjoyed a beautifully laid out breakfast while watching the giraffe and impala come to the water’s edge for a drink.
Late one afternoon on our final game drive we got news on the radio that there was something special not far from us. Earlier we were asked what sighting we would like to see most importantly. Our response was to see big cats of-course! We were starting to lose hope when the call came. Three large male brothers resting in an open plain catching the last of the suns rays. A perfect end to a day in the bushveld. These boys hadn’t eaten in a while and as lazy as they looked, a nearby herd of buffalo perked them up as we sat quietly anticipating something.
These tented camps were nothing like the ordinary camping trip we are used to. It is as luxurious as a hotel room except you are covered in bushveld and the sounds of the wildlife pierce through the thin canvas sending you into an African dream world. The tents are equipped with an outside and indoor shower as well as a bathroom. The canvas walls zip up allowing you to create an open air bedroom which flows onto the deck overlooking the veld. We enjoyed the coffee and rusks in the mornings without having to get out of bed as we were already had the fresh breeze blow through the room.
The lodge offers activities such as game drives, bush walks, hot air balloon rides, spa treatment, perfectly set out picnics and many more outings around the area organized by Ngama. When we were not busy with the activities we spent hours by the pool escaping the heat and making use of the lodge restaurant and bar. It was everything we would’ve expected and more from an African bush experience and we cant wait to go back.
